This course is built on real cases, taught by an investigator who has worked them from the first call to the courtroom. Edward Campbell is a veteran detective with more than 20 years of investigative experience in crimes against children, homicide, ICAC, and officer-involved shootings, and a Florida State Certified General Instructor.

As a lead detective, he has carried major cases through to conviction, testified regularly in county and circuit court, and mentored the next generation of investigators. He is a U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran and was named Officer of the Year in 2020.

  • What makes crimes-against-children cases different, and the discipline the first hours demand
  • The role of the first responding officer versus the forensic interviewer, and handling a child's disclosure without contaminating the statement
  • Recognizing child abuse and neglect, and distinguishing accidental from non-accidental injuries
  • Online and ICAC investigations, digital evidence, and working with NCMEC and federal task forces
  • Building a case that holds up: evidence, timeline, and documentation the defense cannot exploit
  • Interviewing the offender: rapport, themes, and working toward a confession within legal limits
  • Testifying with confidence and protecting the child witness through the court process
  • The weight of the work: recognizing secondary trauma and building resilience for you and your team
